2014 Events: April 5-6, 12-13 and October 4-5, 11-12
Sunnyvale residents can dump extra garbage at no charge at the SMaRT Station on Extra Dumping Weekends, held two weekends each in the spring and fall. Extra Dumping Weekends events are for Sunnyvale residential customers only. Residents must provide acceptable proof of residency: a driver's license with a Sunnyvale address, or a license and current utility or service bill bearing a Sunnyvale address. Please have proof of residency ready to show attendant to keep event lines moving.
Single-family residents may opt to use an On-Call Collection appointment to dispose of extra garbage, avoid hauling materials and waiting in line at the SMaRT Station. Call Utilities at (408) 730-7400 to schedule an appointment; two no-cost appointments are available each calendar year.
All loads must be covered or a $15 charge will be assessed.
Acceptable non-hazardous materials that can be disposed at Extra Dumping Weekends events:
- Asphalt, concrete, dirt and sod
- Construction and demolition materials
- Automotive tires (limit 4 of passenger-size)
Vehicles up to and including one-ton load ratings or smaller will be admitted. Vehicles with trailers are admitted provided trailers do not exceed 10 feet by 5 feet. Please drive carefully through the SMaRT Station and follow instructions. Unload safely, but quickly, to allow other residents access to the tipping area. This event is well-attended, we appreciate your patience when experiencing traffic delays.
