Holiday Garbage Collection Schedule 2013
Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day are the ONLY holidays that affect regular garbage and recycling collection services. For collection days falling on these three holidays, regularly scheduled collections will occur on the following day. For example, the Thanksgiving Day (Thursday) garbage and recycling collection will be done on Friday, and Friday collections will be done on Saturday. Download or print holiday schedule.
Regular Garbage Service
Residents in single-family, duplex, triplex and mobile homes receive Choice Collect (FAQs) curbside garbage collection services. Customers may choose a garbage cart size (35, 65 or 95-gallon) that best fits their needs. Customers may exchange cart sizes only once during the year at no charge.
Single family residents have options for getting rid of extra garbage:
Multi-family garbage services and rates apply to those residences consisting of four or more apartment or townhome units. Multi-family residents may have single garbage carts or community garbage bin service and may dispose of extra trash in community bins provided they do not overfill the bins. Large amounts of extra trash or large items such as sofas, tables or mattresses should be disposed of at the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station (SMaRT Station®).
All residents may take advantage of Extra Dumping Weekends during which there is no charge for disposing of extra garbage at the SMaRT Station. Residents are asked to consider reuse and donations of unwanted items to keep them out of the landfill, rather than dumping them at the SMaRT Station as a last resort.
