The City of Sunnyvale provides these garbage services:
Residents in single-family, duplex, triplex and mobile homes receive Choice Collect (FAQs) curbside garbage collection services. Customers can choose the garbage cart size that best fits their needs. Single family residents have options for getting rid of extra garbage:
Multi-family garbage services and rates apply to those residences consisting of four or more apartment or townhome units. Multi-family residents may have single garbage carts or community garbage bin service and may dispose of extra trash in community bins provided they do not overfill the bins. Large amounts of extra trash should be disposed of at the Sunnyvale Materials Recovery and Transfer Station (SMaRT Station®).
All residents may take advantage of Extra Dumping Weekends during which there is no charge for disposing of extra garbage at the SMaRT Station. Residents are asked to consider reuse and donations of unwanted items to keep them out of the landfill rather than dumping them at the SMaRT Station a last resort.
Holiday Schedule
Pickup of garbage, yard trimmings, and recyclables occurs on most holidays, except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day. For collection days falling on these three holidays, collection will be moved to the following day. For example, Thanksgiving (Thursday) collections will be done on Friday and Friday collections will be done on Saturday.
Commercial garbage service offers a range of service options for business customers.
