Residents have two options to dispose of cooking oil:

  1. Take your cooking oil/tallow to the SMaRT Station® for recycling.
  2. Mix oil with absorbent material such as cat litter and put the resulting "solid" into garbage.

Accepts universal hazardous waste (fluorescents, batteries, motor oil/antifreeze, cooking oil) from Sunnyvale, Mountain View and Palo Alto residents. Drop off only, no charge, call for details. 

  • Sharps – Place needles and lancets in a rigid, puncture and leak resistant, unbreakable container, labeled "Sharps Waste", having a tightly sealed lid, or in an international biohazard container. Container must fit through the 8" x 9" chute.  Do not use glass bottles or milk cartons. Look for red bin.

    Trees must be prepared as follows to ensure collection:
    Remove all stands, light strands and decorations.
    Cut trees so trunk length does not exceed four feet.
    Place at curb (single-family residents), or in yard cart if lid can close.
    Place in designated area (mulit-family residents) as determined by property owners or managers.
