Q. On occasion I have more garbage than will fit in my cart. What can I do with the extra garbage?
A. If you have extra garbage you can purchase an extra garbage tag for $6 at one of the locations listed on the chart below.
Q. What if I have more than a bag or two of extra garbage and don't want to use an extra garbage tag?
A. Consider making an appointment for an On-call Collection for bulky items (such as furniture, large appliances, mattresses, etc.) plus two cubic yards of household trash. Electronics are acceptable items for On-Call collections only. Call Utilities Customer Service at (408) 730-7400. Two On-Call appointments are allotted each year at no additional charge.
Q. May I put my extra garbage in a cardboard box for collection and use an extra garbage tag?
A. No, cardboard boxes with extra garbage cannot be collected using an extra garbage tag. Please follow the instructions below when preparing your extra garbage for pick up:
- Bag the extra garbage in a 35-gallon (or smaller) plastic bag.
- Maximum bag weight is 30 pounds.
- Stick the tag on the front of the bag with the tag facing the street.
