NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
PROPOSED RATE INCREASES FOR WATER, SEWER, AND GARBAGE SERVICES
On Tuesday, June 2, 2009, the Sunnyvale City Council will hold a public hearing regarding proposed changes to utility rates for City-provided water, sewer and garbage services. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 456 W. Olive Avenue.
General information Regarding Water, Sewer, and Garbage Utility Rates
Sunnyvale rates for utility services are based entirely on the City's costs for operating and maintaining its utility facilities and services. Increases in utility rates are being driven primarily by the increase in cost of purchasing water from the City's wholesale suppliers, needed water and sewer infrastructure improvements, and planned adjustments in costs for providing solid waste collection and disposal services. Individual rates may vary, however as a whole the rate increases are:
Water - 8% (1 percent less than planned)
Sewer - 7.5% (half a percent less than planned)
Garbage - 5.5% (as planned)
