Summer Teen Program

Make kids smile by joining the City's Summer Teen Volunteer Program!  If you are 13-18 years old, you may volunteer in our Summer camps, Aquatics and Theater programs and gain experience that will help you become a great leader!  Each summer the City offers a wide variety of regular and specialty youth summer camps, arts and theatre camps, and swim-related activities providing many opportunities for teen volunteers to get involved, help others and have fun.

Spaces are limited.  Apply today!  APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, MAY 2, 2014!  Must be 13-18 years of age, or turn 13 on or before June 16, 2014.

All  volunteers must attend a three hour training on Saturday, May 31, and can elect to attend either 9 am - 12 pm or 1 pm - 4 pm.  Attendance at the May 31 training is mandatory in order to volunteer.  Those volunteering in our Aquatic Centers must also attend Aquatics mandatory training on Thursday, June 12, 4:45 pm - 7 p.m.

HOW TO APPLY


ALL VOLUNTEERS: Before completing your application, read carefuly the Summer Teen Volunteer Guidelines to understand what is required and how the program is run.


If you are a NEW VOLUNTEER to this program, please complete the following steps:

1.  Complete and submit the online Summer Teen Volunteer Application and the Summer Teen Volunteer Program Interest Form.  Click here for an Interest Form you can complete online and submit as an email attachment, and here to print and complete a paper copy.  The Interest Form must be signed by your parent or legal guardian if you are under the age of 18.

2.  The completed and signed Interest Form must be returned both by email (as an attachment) and a paper copy delivered to:

3.  If you are 18 years of age or older you will need to be fingerprinted at no cost to you in order to participate in the Summer Teen Volunteer Program, unless you previously completed the City's fingerprinting process and are cleared to volunteer.  You will be contacted by Jesus Raygoza regarding the fingerprint process.

4.  Once you have completed the above steps, you will receive a class code.  Take this class code to the Community Center and ask to sign up for the Summer Teen Volunteer Program.

5.  After all of the paperwork is in AND you have signed up for the program, you are officially enrolled as a Summer Teen Volunteer!


If you are a RETURNING VOLUNTEER to this program, please complete the following steps:

1.  Email jraygoza@sunnyvale.ca.gov to let us know you are interested in volunteering again this year.  Please provide your full name and be sure to let us know if your email, phone number or address have changed.

2.  Complete, sign and submit the Summer Teen Volunteer Program Interest Form before the May 2 deadline.  Click here for an Interest Form you can complete online and submit as an email attachment, and here to print and complete a paper copy. The Interest Form must be signed by your parent or legal guardian if you are under the age of 18.

3. The completed and signed Interest Form must be returned both by email (as an attachment) and a paper copy delivered to:

3. If you are 18 years of age or older, or will be turning 18 years of age before August 8, 2014, you will need to be fingerprinted at no cost to you in order to participate in the Summer Teen Volunteer Program, unless you previously completed the City's fingerprinting process and are cleared to volunteer. You will be contacted by Jesus Raygoza regarding the fingerprint process.

4. Once you have completed the above steps, you will receive a class code. Take this class code to the Community Center and ask to sign up for the Summer Teen Volunteer Program.

5. After all of the paperwork is in AND you have signed up for the program, you are officially enrolled as a Summer Teen Volunteer!
