City of Sunnyvale

Sunnyvale's Urban identity as a pioneer in the development of high technology is rendered here through a three dimensional design of two stylized forms. The background, consisting of organic shapes, is reminiscent of the City's agricultural history, while the horizontal geometric pattern suggest computer technology.

Designed by Yael Lurie and woven by Jean Pierre Larochette, this tapestry was dedicated on January 18, 1991. Measuring four feet high by fourteen feet wide, this woven art graces the Sunnyvale Public Library's Reference Desk area.

Sunnyvale Public Library's Stained Glass Window

The mountains represent lofty achievement, the river symbolizes knowledge, while the earth, plants and trees are humankind receiving the riches of knowledge.

Designed by Elizabeth Devereaux and fabrication by Paula Shapiro, Bob Shank, and Irmi Steding, this stained glass window was dedicated in September of 1992. Standing seventeen feet tall, this stained glass window is located in the room that begins the non-fiction collection.
