Borrowers may renew most materials twice, unless the item has been reserved by another user. New books may be renewed just once. Feature movies, magazines, and Sams Photofacts are not renewable.

Reserves

If the item you want is checked out to another user, you may place a hold on it:

- by coming in to the Library - Librarians will be glad to assist you in placing a reserve.

- by calling the Reference Desk - Have your Sunnyvale Public Library card ready, and librarians will be glad to assist you in placing your reserve.

- by locating the item in the Library's Catalog on the Web, then clicking on the 'Place Hold' button above it.

Feature movies and magazines may not be reserved.

When you place a reserve, you will be notified that it is available to be picked up at the Library for up to a week. There is a charge of $.50 due upon pick up.

You may choose any of three methods to be notified:

telephone
e-mail
postal mail

You may update your own account to indicate which method you prefer and to update your contact information, or call the Circulation division at (408) 730-2748.

Holds may be placed only on items that are checked out. For items that are 'Available,' call the Reference Desk at (408) 730-7300, option 5 to have the item pulled from the shelf and held for you.

You may check your account online to see a list of items for which you've placed holds. Holds may be cancelled if you wish.

Fines for Late Return of Materials

You can check your account online to view due dates of your materials.

25 cents a day ($8 maximum):

Audiocassettes
Books
Compact discs
Pamphlets
Magazines
Sam's Photofacts

60 cents a day ($10 maximum):

Interlibrary Loan materials

$1.00 a day ($8 maximum):

DVDs
Videocassettes

Cost of material, plus processing fee

Interlibrary loan: $2.50 per item

Replacement for lost library card: $1.85

Link+ loans: no charge

Link+ replacement fees: $115 per book
