Donations
The library welcomes donations of books, videocassettes, audiocassettes, and DVDs in good condition.
All donated items become the property of the Sunnyvale Public Library. Donated items will be reviewed for possible addition to the library collection. Criteria for adding materials include: timeliness, condition, relevance to collection guidelines and policies. Items not added to the collection may be given to the Sunnyvale Friends of the Library to sell at their book sales, which benefit the library. The library is under no obligation to add donated materials to the collection or to notify the donor of the disposition of the items.
There is a limit of 4 bags or boxes accepted at one time. All donated materials must be delivered to the library.
We do not accept the following items:
* Newspapers and magazines
* Software
* Encyclopedias more than 5 years old
* Textbooks
* Old computer books
Donation receipt forms are available to be completed by donors. Library staff members do not estimate the value of a donation; value is assigned by the donor.
Both Goodwill and the Salvation Army will accept used books.
Goodwill also accepts used magazines.
Some hospitals and schools may also accept used magazines.
