Become a Friend of the Library!
The Friends of the Sunnyvale Public Library is a non-profit organization which promotes the Library, encouraging all community members to use the many services offered by the Library.  The Friends are proud of the Library and strive to support Library activities.  In 2006, the Friends donated more than $85,000 to enhance library services.  More information on the Friends and how to join.  

Become a Library volunteer!
Last year, more than a hundred volunteers collectively donated more than 7,000 hours of time to helping make the Library a better place.  Volunteers helped ensure books were in order on the shelves, translate publicity, diagnose and repair damaged media materials, assist with book sales, provide support for patent and trademark services, read stories to children, and tutor people on how to use the Internet, to name just a few of the ways volunteers have made a difference.  To see a list of current volunteer opportunities, please check online with the City’s Volunteer Services.  

Donate Books, Movies, Music, Audiobooks!
The library welcomes donations of books, videocassettes, audiocassettes, and DVDs in good condition.  All donated items become the property of the Sunnyvale Public Library.  Items not added to the collection may be given to the Sunnyvale Friends of the Library to sell at their book sales, which benefit the library.  More information on materials donations.

Cash donations
Monetary donations are accepted by the Library Director who sees that they are placed into the proper fund.  Please indicate whether your donation is for the City generally or for the Library specifically.  Checks should be made payable to the "Sunnyvale Public Library.”  Donors may suggest ways to use the funds, such as subjects or titles to be acquired with the donation, but the Library reserves the right to make the final decision.  Donations to the Library are tax-deductible.  You can give the donation to staff at the Circulation Desk, the Reference/Information Desk, or in Administration located upstairs during normal business hours.  Alternatively, you may mail the check to:

Shop for the Library

Register at ShopForTheLibrary.net as a way to support the Sunnyvale Public Library (SPL) while making purchases via the Internet.  Shop For the Library contributes a percentage of each purchase to SPL.  Participating companies include Target, Eddie Bauer, Home Depot, Travelocity, PETCO, PetSmart, Office Max, BlockBuster, Dell, and many more. You must register at ShopFortheLibrary.net with your e-mail address, and download and install AutoTrack software, which runs in the background and reminds you to support the library when you visit a participating vendor's Web site.
