Curbside Recycling Collection (Residential)

Sunnyvale residents may recycle a variety of materials at curbside as part of the regular collection service. Acceptable recyclable materials collected at curbside in the wheeled, split-cart toter are split into two portions: in the blue-lid side, insert glass food and beverage containers, tin/aluminum food and beverage containers, all plastic food and beverage bottles and jars (plastics #1-#7 marked on the bottom of each container), and in the green-lid side, insert newspaper, newspaper inserts and phonebooks. Corrugated cardboard, used motor oil and oil filters can be placed on the curb next to the recycle cart and yard waste can be inserted into the green yard waste cart. Contact Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling with any garbage service problems or missed pick-ups.

Residential customers may bring garbage or items not normally collected at the curbside directly to the SMaRT Station. Disposal charges are based on the volume and density of materials. Customers will be paid cash for California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers marked "CA Cash Refund".
