Each eBook provider has a different interface and rules for borrowing and downloading. Read on for instructions on how to begin using these resources and which eBooks provider might suit your needs.

Hundreds of popular titles for reading or listening, both fiction and nonfiction as well as a growing selection of classical music for free download.
Digital books may be downloaded to your personal PC, laptop, or appropriate portable device in three formats: Adobe Reader, Mobipocket (PDA compatible), and OverDrive Digital Audiobooks, most of which can also be burned to CD. See the Digital Book Help page for system requirements and download instructions. Free software may be required and can be downloaded through the site.
Up to ten titles at a time may be "checked out" for a three-week loan from your own computer or from any library computer. These are separate from your Sunnyvale library account. eBooks may not be downloaded to library computers.
How to access: At the Web site above, sign in with your 14-digit Sunnyvale Library card number.

Thousands of titles to read online, covering topics like business and careers, computers, literature, mathematics, research, science, test preparation, and much more.
NetLibrary eBooks can be read only online; they are not downloadable. Only one user at a time may have access to a copy of an eBook.
Browsing NetLibrary eBooks: You may browse an eBook online, and as long as you turn a page every fifteen minutes, the book will be ‘open’ to you.
Checking out NetLibrary eBooks: If you wish to make sure that a particular title is available to you for up to 24 hours, you may check out the book to your account.
How to access:
Inside the library, you may browse a NetLibrary eBook without signing in.
Outside the library, you must first create a NetLibrary account inside the library. Once you create an account, you can log in to NetLibrary from any outside computer using your user name and password.
To create your own user name and password, visit NetLibrary from any library computer and click on the link called "Create a Free Account".
