The City Clerk's Office manages City Council legislative processing, the Citywide Records Management Program, the City's Boards and Commissions Program, administers municipal elections, performs legislative research, and prepares a variety of analyses and reports for City Management.
Specific duties include the following:
Prepare City Council Agendas and Minutes
Manage Boards and Commission Program
Administer provisions of State law: the Ralph M. Brown Act (Open Meeting Law), Public Records Act, and Political Reform Act
Maintain Custody of City Records
Serve as Clerk of the Council
Attest, Publish, Post, Index & File Ordinances/Resolutions
Administer Oaths of Office and provide Certified Copies of Official Documents
Manage Municipal Elections
Receive and Process Petitions Relating to Municipal Initiative, Charter Amendment, Referendum and Recall
Notice Public Hearings and Special Meetings
Serve as Filing Officer for Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) Campaign Statements and Statements of Economic Interest
