TEEN VOLUNTEERING
Why volunteer? Many teens are looking for service opportunities right here in Sunnyvale. There are many reasons to volunteer:
- To address an issue you feel strongly about like homelessness, the environment, or literacy.
- To check out a job or career path that interests you.
- To get experience for your college application.
- To meet new people or find a new purpose.
- Your school may require community service hours for graduation.
How much time does it take? It varies depending on the opportunity.
What kind of community service is available for teens in Sunnyvale?
- Community Kidz Camp (Recruitment beings February 2009)
- Public Safety Explorers
- Special Event: State of the City, September 13, 2008
- Special Event: Annual Hands on the Arts held every May (Recruitment begins January 2009)
- Special Event: Annual Health & Safety Fair held every May Recruitment begins January 2009)
- Summer Teen Annual Program (Recruitment begins February 2009)
- Teen Advisory Committee (Not accepting application until August 2008)
