The City Council appoints members to a variety of intergovernmental agencies in order to represent the City's interests and to influence policies and regulations of other agencies. Intergovernmental relations committee assignments are either appointed by Council or ratified by Council when made by outside agencies. All ongoing IGR committee assignments are appointed or ratified annually in January. When making IGR appointments, Council considers the City's overall intergovernmental priorities and the particular interest and backgrounds of individual councilmembers.
