Enclosed Jumpers

A permit is required to use an enclosed jumper in Sunnyvale parks. Permits and park site maps for neighborhood parks may be acquired through the Recreation Division at (408) 730-7751. Please refer to the park site map for the park area you intend to use. Enclosed jumpers and their associated electric generators are not allowed in the shaded areas of the map, and they are only allowed from 10:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m. under the following conditions:

  1. They must be rented from a company that has a minimum of $1,000,000 commercial general liability insurance. The rental company’s insurance agent must provide to the City, prior to your event, a certificate of insurance that shows the City of Sunnyvale as an “additional insured.” All rental guidelines regarding use of the jumper must be followed.
  2. You must provide adult supervision of jumper use at all times.
  3. Enclosed jumper require electricity to operate, and while there are electrical outlets available in most parks, there is no guarantee on any given day that power will be available to the outlet you select. Arrange back-up plans with your jumper/trampoline rental company before the date of your event. Where portable electric generators are used, ensure that the generator and jumper are not located within a shaded portion of the Park Site Map.
  4. The rental company must install the jumper without driving a motorized vehicle into the park. They will need to use either a cart, hand-truck or similar method of transportation.
  5. The jumper must be placed on turf and situated so that its entrance is at least eight (8) feet away from any object that might hurt an occupant who falls out. The maximum space allowed for the jumper is 20’ X 20’. For safety reasons, jumpers should not be located on hard surfaces (such as concrete). It is suggested that you select the location several days before your event so that you can measure the distance between it and the closet electrical outlet. (if you do this ahead of time and find the electrical outlet is not working, you can call Parks Maintenance at (408) 730-7506—it is possible that repairs would be made prior to your event.) Be sure that you have an extension cord long enough to cover the required distance and do not plan to lay an extension cord across a sidewalk or pathway.
  6. There may be parks staff working during the time of your event. If during initial setup they ask you to move your jumper and/or your portable electric generator to a different location, please cooperate with them.
  7. Jumper are not allowed in the parks overnight.
  8. In case of emergency or injury, call 911. Parks maintenance phones are staffed Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside of these hours you can call the same number and leave a message. Problems outside normal work hours can be communicated to Public Safety at (408) 730-7100—they will radio contact the appropriate party for response.
