Registration Information and Policies

To register you can:

To our Parks and Recreation Customers:

You can register to receive a customer number which will enable you to take advantage of our new registration services. Note: if you have registered with us after January 1st, 2007, you do not need to fill out this form. Please follow the following simple steps:

 

Step 1. Click here to download the PDF form and fill out completely.  We will need one form of identification for each adult over 18. Photocopies are permitted.

 

Step 2. Bring in or mail your completed form and documentation to:

Step 3.  Receive an identification number that will entitle you to register for any Recreation programs or rent Recreation facilities.  

Residency Qualifications
In order to qualify for priority registration, discounted resident fees, or recreation fee waivers, proof of residency must be established.

To qualify for Sunnyvale resident status, two forms of identification with the same name and address are required at the opening of a new account and any time that there is an address change within Sunnyvale. Proof of Sunnyvale residency may be required on a periodic basis One form of identification must be a picture ID. The following is a list of acceptable forms of identification.

* One form of current California picture identification, or utility bill, with customer’s name and Sunnyvale address is required in order to qualify for Sunnyvale resident benefits. If your picture identification or utility bill does not have your current Sunnyvale address, then you will need to show two forms of identification with your current Sunnyvale address. THE PARTICIPANT MUST BE A SUNNYVALE RESIDENT IN ORDER TO RECEIVE SUNNYVALE RESIDENT RATES.

3)Phone

  • Register in person at the Sunnyvale Community Center Mon-Fri between 9am-6pm

Priority Mail-in & Fax-in Registration begins April 7, 2008.
All mail and faxes are held until the first day of processing. Sunnyvale residents* have priority.

Non-Resident mail and faxes received by April 14, 2008 will then be processed.

A box is provided at the Community Center Office where you may leave your "mail-in" registration through April 21, 2008.

Walk-in Registration - April 21, 2008
Resident* and non-resident walk-in registration and class changes or substitutions will be processed at:

Sunnyvale Community Center
550 E. Remington Drive
Monday-Friday 9am-6pm

Class registration continues according to this schedule until the second class meeting, provided openings are available.

Phone-in Registration - Begins April 23, 2008.   Phone-in Registration will be processed between 10am -6:00 pm only.

Have charge card and brochure handy! Fill out registration form before you call, please.

Age
Age level indicates participant must be that age by starting date of the class.

Residency
A resident* is anyone living within the Sunnyvale city limits.

*Please be prepared to show proof of residency in one of the approved forms:

  • California Driver's LIcense
  • California Identificaiton Card, or
  • Utility Bill
  • If you do not have any of the above IDs please contact us about other acceptable ways to confirm your residency status.
     

Cancellations
The Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel a class or activity when the minimum number of registered participants is not met. Please register early to avoid class cancellations. If a class is canceled, you will automatically receive a refund from the City in approximately 4 weeks.

Waiting Lists
During mail-in registration, when a class becomes full, your name will automatically be placed on a waiting list. If space in a class opens, we will notify you by telephone. In the event we cannot place you, your check will be returned to you. If you are paying for multiple classes with one check, you will receive a refund check from the City within approximately 4 weeks.

Refund/transfer policy
Up to 14 calendar days before the first class meeting, customers may receive a full refund.
Between 13 calendar days and before the starting date of the second class meeting, customers may:
1. Transfer to another class within the same class session.  A $5.00 processing fee will apply.
2. Or, receive a refund in the form of a check, VISA, Mastercard (depending on method of payment) or Leisure Loot. * A $10 processing fee per class will apply.
3. If the City initiates the transfer or refund, there will be no processing fee.
4. From the day of the second class meeting, there will be no refunds, transfers or credits issued.
5. Refunds must be requested in person at the Community Center and you must have your receipt. There will be a $2 charge for each reprinted receipt. 
6. There are no refunds or transfers for one or two-day classes and activities, trips, theater tickets, golf activities, tennis activities, food services or sports leagues.

*Leisure Loot may be used as payment towards the registration fee of any future class. The original Leisure Loot coupon must be presented at the time of registration.  Copies of Leisure Loot coupons will not be accepted. Leisure Loot may not be redeemed for cash.

Fee Waiver Assistance Program
 

New Application Process

Eligible Sunnyvale residents may apply to waive, or offset, the expense of Sunnyvale Parks and Recreation Department program registration fees for youth (age 17 and under) of up to $234 per eligible family member, per Fiscal Year (July 1 – June 30).

This includes, but is not limited to, youth recreation classes and after school programs sponsored by the City. The Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program does not fund adult or senior programming, special events or participation in non-profit youth sports organizations. Recreation Fee Waiver Assistance Program resources are limited and subject to availability of funds. Please allow 30 (thirty)

days for a response to your application. For more information call (408) 730-7350.

Tennis Registration
Registration is taken at the Sunnyvale Municipal Tennis Center only. For additional information or to be placed on the tennis mailing list, please call the Tennis Center at (408) 732-2130.

Pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City of Sunnyvale will make reasonable efforts to accommodate persons with disabilities in the provision of City services, programs or activities. If you require special accommodation in order to participate in a City parks or recreation program, please let us know when you register.
