The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in assisting with recreation programs serving youth from 5 to 14 years old. The recreation programs are held at various parks and schools throughout the City of Sunnyvale. Under the direction of Youth and Teen Services Coordinator and Program Assistant, you will:

Ø       Provide excellent customer service, relating to a wide variety of people, situations and experiences

Ø       Maintain on-site safety and enforce rules

Ø       Plan, implement and lead a variety of recreation activities, including but not limited to, non-competitive games/sports, arts and crafts, cooking projects

Ø       Maintain attendance records

Ø       Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

·         Minimum age: 16 years old (Students under 18 must obtain a Student Work Permit prior to employment.)

·         Paid or volunteer experience with youth or recreation programs (not required, but highly desirable)

·         Must enjoy working with youth of all ages and interact well with public and co-workers

·         Approach work in a professional and responsible manner

·         Flexible in dealing with a variety of tasks and responsibilities

·         Must be available to work varying hours Monday through Friday between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

·         Drug test, TB Test, DMV background check and Department of Justice fingerprinting required as a condition of employment

·         Must adhere to all City rules, policies and supervisor’s instructions
