The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in summer employment to assist with the aquatics program serving the youth and adult population. The age range of participants is 6 months to Adult.  The summer aquatic program is held at one of the many City of Sunnyvale Pools. As an Aquatics staff member, you will:

 

Ø      Organize and lead swim lessons and other water activities;

Ø      Supervise youth and adult water activities;

Ø      Take attendance and test swim participants based on American Red Cross guidelines;

Ø      Interact with children, parents, care-givers, and City staff;

Ø      Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants through American Red Cross standards of care.

Pool Managers are responsible for additional duties including planning, scheduling, program registrations, training, American Red Cross paperwork and staff supervision. 

 

Job Requirements

·        The minimum age is 16 years old (students under 18 will be required to obtain a Student Work Permit.)

·        Desired experience in Paid or Volunteer aquatic lesson delivery.

·        American Red Cross Lifeguard Training certification is necessary and Water Safety Instructor certification is desired. 

·        Must be available to work varying hours Monday through Sunday between 7:30a.m. and 8:30p.m. (full day, half-day, or on-call), for the entire summer program period from June 23 through August 22, 2008.

·        Must be available to attend mandatory full-day training sessions June 16 through June 20, 2008.
