Wet Weather Driving Tips
California State Law now requires that headlights be turned on when the windshield wipers are activated- it's for your own safety!
RAIN:

SLOW DOWN!

Drive with headlights on.

Avoid standing water and be alert for hydroplaning.

Apply brakes slowly.

Leave extra distance between you and the vehicle ahead.
FOG:

SLOW DOWN!

Drive with low headlight beams on [it's illegal to drive with parking lights on.]

Avoid unnecessarily crossing traffic lanes.

Move away from a stalled or disabled vehicle.

If on the highway:

Use the white roadway edge marker as a reference.

Watch for CHP pace vehicles to guide you through the fog.

Don't stop except in emergencies.
