The following are the refuse collection rates (see "proposed rates" section) through June 30, 2009 with the exception of multi-family and commercial customers with can service. Those with can service will continue to have the same service rates until new garbage carts are delivered (new cart information will be mailed to those accounts by August 4) at which time they will switch over to the new rates.
Multi-family (consists of 4 or more residential units) and commercial customers may choose from the following service options:
- Multi-family 32-gallon cart service supplied by customer (weekly collection)
Until new garbage carts are delivered, monthly rates for up to three 32-gallon customer provided containers will remain the same:
- Curbside service $23.15
- Rear yard service $24.16
Commercial 35-gallon cart, 1 - 30 cubic yard bins and compactors supplied by customer (weekly collection)
Note: If your business is considering purchasing a compactor, contact Specialty at (408) 566-9900 to discuss service charge implications and compactor compatibility with collection equipment.
Commercial 1 - 30 cubic yard bins supplied by Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling (weekly collection)
Note: Multi-family complexes may also choose from the 1 - 6 cubic yard service options.
Commercial regular and special on-call service rates
The garbage container will not be collected if it contains any unacceptable materials. Container lids must be kept closed when not in immediate use to reduce odors, litter and water entry.
Additional service and maintenance options for containers supplied by Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling
Unacceptable Materials
Bins and debris boxes containing the following materials will not be emptied:
-
Hazardous materials/products (e.g. batteries, wet paint, fluorescent tubes/bulbs, chemicals)
-
Electronics
-
Grease and oils
-
Tires
-
Dead animals larger than a cat
-
Loose, unbagged Styrofoam packing pellets, ashes, sawdust, cat litter, and pet waste
Please refer to the Business Hazardous Waste section of this website for more information on how to properly dispose of these materials, or call the Santa Clara Hazardous Waste Recycling and Disposal Program at (408) 299-7300.
There is no charge for the first cleaning/painting of your garbage bin within a 12-month period. Call the Sunnyvale Commercial Utility Section at (408) 730-7681 to order cleaning and painting services.
Push Service
Push service is available for an extra charge to commercial customers who:
- have 1, 2, or 3 cubic yard garbage bins
- do not want to allow the truck on their property, and/or
- whose property makes it physically impossible for the truck to drive onto the property and the customer does not want to move the container to the curb on their own
The Specialty driver will move the container to the curb, dump it, and then return it to the enclosure. Customers with larger bins, debris boxes, and compactors must agree to allow collection vehicles on their property and relieve Specialty of any liability for normal wear and tear to paved areas.
Lock Service
To deter unauthorized use of your garbage bin, locks are available from Specialty for a nominal fee.
