Garbage Service

Commercial customers may choose from a variety of bins and debris boxes which are furnished by Specialty:

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6 cubic yard bins with lids
  • 15, 20, and 30 cubic yard open-top debris boxes

Customers may also use 32-gallon cans for refuse when appropriate. Bins, debris boxes and cans will be emptied according to a schedule set between the customer and Specialty Solid Waste and Recycling. Customers may also provide and use compactors compatible with Specialty’s vehicles. All bins, cans, debris boxes and compactors must be emptied at least once per week.

To initiate or change your garbage service call the Sunnyvale Commercial Utility Division at (408) 730-7681. Click here for Commercial Refuse Collection Rates.

All garbage must be placed in the can, bin or debris box. Lids on cans and bins must be kept closed to control odors and litter. Customers with 1, 2, or 3 cubic yard bins who do not wish to allow the collection vehicle on their property must push the bin to the curb by 7 am on collection day. Return trips will require an extra charge.

Push Service:
Push service is available for an extra charge to commercial customers who:

  • have 1, 2, or 3 cubic yard bins
  • do not want to allow the truck on their property, or
  • whose property makes it physically impossible for the truck to drive onto the property and the customer does not want to move the container to the curb on their own

The Specialty driver will move the container to the curb, dump it, and then return it to the enclosure. Customers with larger bins, debris boxes, and compactors must agree to allow collection vehicles on their property and relieve Specialty of any liability for normal wear and tear to paved areas.

15 cubic yard debris boxes should be filled no more than half-full with heavy materials such as dirt, concrete or bricks.

To deter unauthorized use, locks are available from Specialty for a nominal fee.

Compactors:
If your establishment is considering purchasing a compactor, contact Specialty first to discuss service charge implications and compactor compatibility with collection equipment.  Compactors are also available from Specialty.  Click here for Commercial Refuse Collection Rates.
