Events and Workshops this Month
Learn How to Make Compost
Learning how to make compost in your own back yard is the way to go (it's so easy). Or, even have your gardener help. Join us and see how easy it is to turn your food scraps and yard trimmings into a valuable soil amendment--compost!
Nutrient-rich compost promotes healthy soil and healthy plants . . . healthy people too. Workshops are held monthly through October.
The next compost workshop will be on Saturday, August 16 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sunnyvale Heritage Center, 550 E. Remington Drive.
Our new "expanded" topic workshops give other gardening tips including how to reduce the use of pesticides and how to work with your gardener.
After attending the workshop, Sunnyvale residents may purchase a compost bin (one bin per household) with an instruction book for only $28 -- that's 70% off the retail price! There is no charge to attend a workshop, but registration is requested. To register you may go online or call (408) 730-7262.
