Household hazardous waste includes unwanted household, shop and garden products that are caustic, corrosive, toxic or flammable. Sunnyvale households can dispose of these products through the City of Sunnyvale's Hazardous Waste Drop-off events that are held monthly (except in Dec.).

Planing Ahead When You're Moving
As soon as you know that you'll be moving, please check our 2008 Calendar for the next regularly scheduled public drop-off event in Sunnyvale.
Drop-off events are held in Sunnyvale on the third Saturday monthly except in December. Sunnyvale residents do not need an appointment to attend a Sunnyvale event. Other events for Sunnyvale residents and any resident of Santa Clara County may be scheduled by calling, (408) 299-7300.
Keeping Costs in Check
The cost of disposal of hazardous materials is already included in the cost of residential garbage collection service. There is no direct or additional charge to residents to use this service.
In order to keep within the City budget these public events are scheduled regularly through-out the year to allow for economies of scale.
Another way to help keep the cost to provide this service as reasonable as possible is for residents to plan their use of the service so that trips with only a few items is limited.
