How can I dispose of household hazardous waste?
Residents may bring their household hazardous waste to one of the monthly Sunnyvale Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-off events. These events are held on the third Saturday of each month, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 164 Carl Road, Sunnyvale (appointments are not required for Sunnyvale residents).

I need to rent a debris box. May I use any company?
The City of Sunnyvale has an exclusive franchise agreement with Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling; therefore, debris boxes for disposal of solid waste may only be provided by Specialty. Sunnyvale account holders may order a debris box by calling the City of Sunnyvale Utilities Division at 408-730-7681.
Contractors or customers without an existing Sunnyvale account may call Specialty Solid Waste & Recycling directly at 408-565-9900, Ext. 805.

Where can I dispose of trash and recyclable items?
Trash and recyclable items can be dropped off at the SMaRT Station® at 301 Carl Road, Sunnyvale. There is a fee for disposal of trash. Many recyclable items may be dropped off for no charge. How can I dispose of a television or computer monitor?
These items contain hazardous materials and may not be disposed of as garbage. Sunnyvale residents may bring TVs and monitors to the SMaRT Station from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days per week.

We provide this service 24 hours, 7 days per week. Please call 408-730-7510 approximately one hour before you require the water service to be turned off. Please call the Consumer Protection Division of the County Environmental Health Department at 408-918‑3400. This agency inspects swimming pools and spas at apartments, condominiums, hotels and motels, health clubs, schools, community associations, commercial buildings, trailer and mobile home parks, clubs, campgrounds, and water theme parks.
