Get Involved with Public Safety

There are a number of ways to get involved in public safety services from Explorers to Office of Emergency Services to Volunteers in Public Safety.

The Explorers offer an opportunity for youth 14-20 years old to train in police and fire activities and to assist officers with a variety of events throughout the year.

The Office of Emergency Services has Sunnyvale Neighbors Actively Prepare (SNAP) and Sunnyvale Amateur Radio Emergency Services (SARES) both assist our community in the event of a natural disaster or other catastrophic event.

Volunteers in Public Safety are assigned throughout the department and provide assistance to staff in a variety of areas.

Interested in helping near home? Residents can start their own Neighborhood Watch Groups with help from our Crime Prevention Unit.
