Mathilda Bridge Update –

Recently:

  • The Mathilda Avenue traffic pattern has been switched to allow the construction of the median island. 
  • The Mathilda Avenue Loop Off –Ramp has been paved.
  • Bridge joint seal assemblies have been installed along the Mathilda Avenue Bridge.
  • The contractor continues to construct Pedestrian Ramp One. Falsework material has been removed from pedestrian ramp one.
  • The new parking lots along Evelyn between Charles Street and North Mathilda Way have been paved.
  • Several light circuits have been activated and are being tested.

 

This Week: 

  • Night work will commence to remove temporary forms and protective railings. Coordination with Caltrain has been established. The work is expected to be performed Wednesday and Thursday February 1 and 2, 2012.  February 3, 2012 is an optional night depending on progress of the removals.
  • The Contractor is scheduled to activate three signalized intersections at Evelyn Avenue between Charles and North Mathilda Way.
  • The contractor will continue construction of the retaining wall along San Andreas Court.  Access to the private properties will be maintained.
  • Contractor will continue the construction of sidewalks and curbing along Evelyn Avenue.
  • The construction of the Charles Street Cul-De-Sac will start after the remaining south bound Mathilda Avenue loop off-ramp retaining walls are completed.

 

Caltrain / PCJPB:  PCJPB Personnel continue to monitor work above or near train tracks. When in the rail road vicinity, project staff is in communication with the railroad flaggers during bridge construction activities.

Environmental Compliance:  The project’s environmental mitigations are reviewed monthly and are in compliance.   Pile driving was completed on December 15, 2010.

Budget:  The project is within budget.

Schedule:  The project’s completion date of January 2012 has slipped few months due to unforeseen conflicts.  The major improvements are still on schedule to be completed by the beginning of February 2012, such as the New Loop Off-Ramp and the signals on Evelyn Avenue. Additional planting, irrigation, curb and gutter construction will continue to progress through out February and March 2012.
