In January, 2009, the City of Sunnyvale has launched a major program that promised to bring millions of dollars in projects to reality, with some to begin work in as little as six weeks.

Sunnyvale Works! will fund in excess of $100 million in capital improvement projects on a highly-accelerated schedule. Where many government projects can take a year or more to move through the approval and contracting process, Sunnyvale has made a commitment to get the projects started as quickly as possible. Sunnyvale Works! is expected to create as many as 600 or more jobs.

Please note: Sunnyvale Works! is not in and of itself a jobs program. Rather, jobs will be created by outside companies who are awarded contracts for Sunnyvale Works! projects.

It began as an ambitious plan launched during one of the worst economic recessions we have seen. The goal was to undertake $60 million in capital improvements program projects at an unheard of rate.

Sunnyvale Works! Named Public Works Project of the Year
