Sign Up for Summer Reading!

The Sunnyvale Public Library's Summer Reading Program is an annual program designed to encourage children, teens, and adults to read during summer break. Registration is from June 1 – July 15.

Each child (Ages 3 – Grade 5) receives a reading log and records at least 10 book titles that he or she reads over the summer. (Young ones may count books read to them.) The children's prize is a free book.

Teens and Adults can participate, too:

Teens (Grades 6 - 12)
Adults (Ages 18+)

Storytime Central

The purpose of Storytime is to encourage children's love of language and literature in all its forms. Kids listen to and imitate the stories and activities we share, thus building reading readiness as they grow. The goal is to create a positive and enriching experience for parents, caregivers and children to enjoy together.

Every week Sunnyvale Public Library offers programs matched to the typical attention spans and developmental levels of different ages of children. We encourage you to look through our wide variety of age-specific storytimes to find the one most appropriate for your child. Visit the Storytime Central page for more information.

Songs and Fingerplays

Each Librarian sings a variety of kid-friendly songs at storytime. Learn the words to favorite tunes by visiting the Songs and Fingerplays page.

Books We Like

Figuring out WHAT to read can be challenging, so here are two sections that can identify the right book for the right person. Both sections are filled with books the Librarians like! The Book Reviews section contains reviews that Librarians wrote to help pick one to try. The Reading Lists page contains a selection of topical and age-appropriate lists for download.

Homework Help

Anyone ages 6 through 8th grade in need of help with homework can get it at the Library! The After School Center is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 p.m. There are also a variety of online resources available to help with homework. Visit the Homework Help page for more information.

Games

For easy access to fun and educational games for all ages, visit the Games page and see what is available for free!

Community Resources

Visit the Community Resources page and learn about Sunnyvale's Columbia Neighborhood Center and the Youth, Family, and Child Care Resources Office.
