We Want To Do Business With You
Our mission is simple: to provide the highest quality municipal services to the Sunnyvale community. We rely on our suppliers to provide the materials and services that are an important component of Sunnyvale's service delivery system. We value suppliers who share our dedication to quality and continuous improvement and who are interested in working with us to accomplish our mission.
Soliciting the City's Business
The Purchasing Division is responsible for procuring materials, supplies, equipment, and services for all City departments. Your first contact when soliciting the City's business should be with Purchasing Division staff. Purchasing staff can then direct you to the City department or staff member best able to evaluate your organization's products or services for use by the City.
The Competitive Bidding Process

Environmental Procurement Policy
It is the policy of the City of Sunnyvale to use environmentally-preferable products and services. See the City's Environmental Procurement Policy for details.
Prevailing Wage
The City of Sunnyvale requires the payment of prevailing wages to workers on City public works projects. Public works projects include the construction, improvement or demolition of public works, but do not include routine maintenance or repair services. Public works are works constructed for the use, protection or enjoyment of the public, including public buildings, streets, drains, sewers, utilities, parks and playgrounds.
Prevailing wage rates are established through surveys and collection of data by the California Department of Industrial Relations and by the Federal Department of Labor Wage and Hour Division.
Current California prevailing wage rates are listed on the Department of Industrial Relations Web site. Federal prevailing wage rates are listed on the GPO Access Davis-Bacon Web site.
Local Business Preference
The City of Sunnyvale supports local businesses by offering a 1% price preference in the evaluation of bids or proposals for the purchase of equipment, supplies, and materials. “Local business” is defined as a business firm which has one or more fixed offices and/or locally taxable distribution points within the boundaries of the City of Sunnyvale and a current, valid City of Sunnyvale business license with a Sunnyvale business street address.
