In addition to City-sponsored events, the Community Events Calendar includes non City-sponsored events.  Events posted to this calendar do not necessarily imply endorsement by the City of Sunnyvale. The calendar serves as an information-only resource for the community.

Applications for the following City of Sunnyvale Advisory Boards and Commissions are now being accepted.  The 2006 Fall Recruitment began September 5, 2006 for the following current openings:

  • Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (1)
  • Board of Building Code Appeals (2)
  • Board of Library Trustees (1)
  • Heritage Preservation Commission (1)
  • Housing and Human Services Commission (2)
  • Personnel Board (must be nominated by a City employee) (2)

  • 13th Annual Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Silicon Valley Walk to Cure Diabetes: Registration begins 10:00 a.m. - Walk begins 11 a.m., Baylands Park (Lawrence Expressway off Highway 237 at Caribbean Drive). Through the support of hundreds of in-kind donors, all participants are treated to breakfast, lunch and entertainment - helping to make the day a fun, family-oriented event.  The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 diabetes research worldwide.  The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Sunnyvale Theatre presents Paraguayan harp virtuoso Ramon Romero and the South American group Cuerdas de Fuego, Strings of Fire, performing traditional songs from their home continent: melodic Guaranias and lively Polkas from Paraguay; dramatic Tangos and rustic Chacareras from Argentina; flirtatious Cuecas from Chile; soulful Boleros from Brazil; waltz-like Joropos from Venezuela and much, much more. Romero wows audiences as his fingers fly on the strings, making a single harp sound like a trio of flamenco guitars. This performance is part of Sunnyvale’s 2006-2007 Evenings of Cultural Arts Series.
