- Rupa & The April Fishes – Extraordinary Rendition: 8 p.m., Sunnyvale Theatre, 550 E. Remington Drive. Part of the 2007-08 Evenings of Cultural Arts series, this group’s music echoes French chanson, Argentinean tango, Gypsy swing, American folk, Latin cumbia and Indian ragas. Their lovely pastiche starts with singer/songwriter/doctor Rupa Marya, a Bay Area native who grew up in Punjab, India, and later an Arab neighborhood in Aix-en-Provence, France. Her lyrics – in French, Spanish, English and Hindi -- suggest a world without borders. SF Weekly declared Rupa “an instant cult classic among the smart, idealistic, international set.” Songs from the group debut album Extraordinary Rendition have hit number 1 on iTunes world song chart. Ticket Prices: $25 general admission, $20 students and seniors with ID. Season ticket packages start at $68. Group sales discounts will also be available.
