Military Reservist – Extension of Benefits and Supplemental Salary Amendment

 

Staff Recommendation:

·      Council approves and adopts a Resolution to extend benefits and supplemental salary through June 30, 2008; and

·      Council funds the extension by carrying over the remaining FY 2006/07 Military Reservist Leave Budget estimated at $272,300 to FY 2007/08 budget and appropriating salary savings in the operating programs where the reservists are budgeted to fund this program and unspent funds will be returned to the Employee Benefits Fund and General Fund at the end of FY 2007/08.

Staff Recommendation: Council awards a threeyear contract, in substantially the same form as the attached sample and in an amount not to exceed $169,754, to Yamaha Golf-Car Company for the lease of seventyfive electric golf carts.

Request from the City of Cupertino to Testify with Regard to Additional Funding of the Mary Avenue Bicycle/Pedestrian Overcrossing Project

 

 

Staff Recommendation: Council approves an increase in funding for the project from $110,000 to $147,000 in order to be consistent with the original intent of the contribution.

2006-0610 – Taylor Woodrow [Applicant] Duane Ventures LLC [Owner]:  Appeal of a Decision of the Planning Commission approving an application for related proposals on a 7.3 acre site located at 1030 East Duane Avenue (near Lawrence Expressway) in an MS/ITR/R-4/PD (Industrial and Service/Industrial to Residential/High Density Residential) Zoning District.  (APN: 205-23-001);

Special Development Permit to allow development of 304 condominium units (68 townhomes and 236 condominium units for a total of 304 units); and Vesting Tentative Map for condominium purposes

 

 

Staff Recommendation: Council denies the appeal and upholds the decision of the Planning Commission to approve the Special Development Permit and Tentative Map with modified conditions, including two of the items raised by the appellant (building setbacks and lot coverage)

Study the Benefits and Impacts of Increasing Weekend Golf Fees $2 for Non-Resident Golfers (Study Issue)

 

 

Staff Recommendation: Council increases proposed (April 1, 2008) weekend fees for nonresident golfers by $0.50 and reduces proposed weekend fees for resident golfers by $1.50 at both Sunnyvale and Sunken Gardens Golf Courses, thereby creating a $2.00 differential between weekend resident and nonresident golf fees.

Review Rental Fees for Plaza del Sol (Study Issue)

 

 

 

Staff Recommendation: Council directs staff to implement a stepped rental fee structure, with damage deposits required as described in page 13 of this report.  Future increases to the plaza rental fees will be handled administratively along with all other parks and recreation fees (except golf).

Resolution Calling for General Municipal Election for Council Seats 4, 5, 6, and 7 and Special Municipal Election for Proposed Charter Amendments, on a Consolidated November 6, 2007 Ballot

 

 

Staff Recommendation: Council approves the Resolution calling a General Municipal Election for the election of Councilmembers, and calling a Special Municipal Election for the purpose of submitting to the voters measures concerning amendments to the City Charter, to be placed on the ballot at the consolidated election to be held in the City of Sunnyvale on November 6, 2007, and requesting election consolidation and the services of the Santa Clara County Registrar of Voters.
