Sunnyvale Mayor and Councilmembers Hold Community Meetings to Discuss Budget
Sunnyvale, CA (02/13/03) – The City of Sunnyvale will hold a series of community meetings over the next several months to help the public gain an understanding of the budget issues the City is confronting and what caused them, the process the City is undertaking to resolve this situation, and to ask for the community’s imput on how best to address these issues.
There will be two initial community meetings on the budget. The first meeting will be Friday, February 21, from 10:00-11:00 am at the Columbia Middle School’s multi-purpose room. The second meeting will be Monday, February 24, from 7:00-8:00 pm at the Sunnyvale Community Center’s community room.
Mayor Julia Miller and other City Councilmembers will be providing an overview of the City’s financial situation in light of the State of California’s proposed budget cuts and other factors. Additional community meetings are planned for March, April, and May to inform the public about impacts to the City’s ten-year Capital Plan, service level reductions, potential tax increases and other related issues, and to solicit the community’s input into this process.
