SUNNYVALE MAYOR NAMED TO ETHICS TASK FORCE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale Mayor Julia Miller has accepted an invitation to join the League of California Cities’ Ethics Education Task Force. The task force will look at ways to educate local elected and appointed officials about ethics issues, and make recommendations to the League’s Board of Directors.

Mayor Miller, who has served as Sunnyvale’s representative to the League for five years and is currently vice president of the League’s Peninsula Division (comprised of the cities in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties), is excited by the opportunity to help cities stay informed about ethics issues. "In these uncertain times, it is vitally important that we continue to nurture the public’s confidence in local government," said Mayor Miller. "By participating in this working task force on ethics education, I hope to be able to discover new ways for Sunnyvale to maintain its traditionally high levels of public service and accountability."

Mayor Miller will travel to Sacramento on April 25 to attend the task force’s first meeting. Task force members will participate in a discussion group on ethics education and will have a chance to hear from adult education and ethics experts.

The League of California Cities, made up of city officials from across California, works to influence policy decisions, exchange information and combine resources. The Ethics Education Task Force was formed as part of the League’s strategic goal to increase public trust in city government.
