SUNNYVALE NEIGHBORHOODS AND CITY GOVERNMENT PARTNER TO
PREPARE FOR EMERGENCIES

SUNNYVALE, Calif. - Sunnyvale neighborhood associations, in cooperation with the City of Sunnyvale and the American Red Cross, have come together to sponsor Sunnyvale Prepared, a community emergency preparedness workshop.  The workshop will be Monday, Jun 23, 2003, at 6:30 p.m. in the Columbia Middle School Multipurpose Room.  Columbia Middle School is located at 739 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale.

In the event of an emergency, City resources are often concentrated on life-threatening situations. With the large number of potential critical needs, residents may be self-reliant for a period of hours and perhaps days. The Sunnyvale Prepared workshop will help residents develop neighborhood-based emergency preparedness plans and learn about City and community resources available in the event of an emergency.

The workshop is scheduled to include representatives from Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Safety, the American Red Cross, Sunnyvale School District, and Santa Clara County Office of Emergency Services. More information can be found at the City’s Web site at www.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us.
