SUNNYVALE SPONSORS IMAGINATION CONTEST
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – What will life be like in 2028? The City of Sunnyvale is sponsoring a contest for local grade school students to find out what they think the future may hold. Sunnyvale’s Imagination Contest is being held in conjunction with the dedication and grand opening of Sunnyvale’s new Senior Center on July 19. The task force overseeing the grand opening will select the winner from each of three grade-based entry categories (first and second combined, third and fourth combined, and fifth and sixth combined). Students are invited to use their imagination to complete the sentence, "In 25 years, I think Sunnyvale will be . . ."
The winning entries will be read during the dedication ceremony, which begins at 10 a.m. at the Senior Center’s new home at 550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale. They will also be placed in the time capsule that will be placed on site at the new Senior Center. The time capsule will be opened in 25 years.
"The Senior Center that we dedicate this year will be used by many generations to come," said Sonya Lee, chairperson for the senior center grand opening. "Imagination is one thing that all generations share. What better way to demonstrate how a single building can tie a community together?"
Entry forms may be obtained from the Sunnyvale Community Center, 550 E. Remington Drive, the Sunnyvale Library, 665 W. Olive Ave. or online at www.ci.sunnyvale.ca.us/recreation. Complete contest guidelines are printed on the entry form.
Students and their families, along with all members of the Sunnyvale community, are encouraged to attend the grand opening and dedication of the new Senior Center. Festivities will include a ribbon cutting ceremony, live music and a fair highlighting the many senior services offered by the new center.
