“MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY” RETURNS TO SUNNYVALE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Volunteerism takes center stage in Sunnyvale on Saturday, October 25, as the City takes part in the second annual “Make a Difference Day.” Community volunteers and service groups will gather from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to make site improvements at Columbia Middle School and Park.

“More and more Sunnyvale residents are connecting with their neighbors and their community through community service,” said Sunnyvale Mayor Julia Miller. “On ‘Make a Difference Day,’ we have a terrific opportunity to join our neighbors working together to build a better community.” Sunnyvale’s event is being held in conjunction with a nationwide “Make a Difference Day” effort developed by USA Weekend magazine.

Last year’s program was a great success as student and adult volunteers worked to beautify both Sunnyvale and Columbia Middle Schools, laying new jogging pathways, pruning trees and building new wooden fencing.
