SUNNYVALE TO CELEBRATE NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The City of Sunnyvale will join thousands of communities nationwide for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5. National Night Out has been labeled a "going-away party" for drugs and crime. To celebrate the night and focus community attention, Sunnyvale will sponsor a Citywide event to be held on Tuesday (August 5) from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. in Murphy Park, 236 N. Sunnyvale Avenue. Other community gatherings will take place in neighborhoods throughout the City and residents are encouraged to attend local events or visit the Citywide event.

The National Night Out event will provide Information on many safety topics. Based on the success of grass-roots level activities, information will be available on how to start a neighborhood association. Neighborhood associations have proven themselves to be an effective tool in preparing for and dealing with a wide variety of issues. Those attending the Sunnyvale Citywide National Night Out event can enjoy free hot dogs, balloons, ice cream and tour a fire truck and police patrol car.

National Night Out is an organized effort to raise awareness about crime and drug prevention, to increase neighborhood spirit and to develop partnerships between police and the community.
