SUNNYVALE TO MARK SEPTEMBER 11
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The City of Sunnyvale will remember the tragic events of September 11 in a brief honor ceremony to be held at Fire Station 2, 795 E. Arques Ave. at Wolfe Road.
Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers will assemble and stand at attention with their apparatus in front of Sunnyvale fire stations 8 a.m. to 8:10 a.m. on Thursday, September 11. Flags will be flown at half-staff in remembrance of the lives lost on September 11.
At 8:15 a.m., at Station 2, an honor guard will escort Mayor Julia Miller to the DPS Fire Training Tower, where the Mayor will address the audience.
"September 11 will be forever emblazoned in American history as a day of tragedy and a day of bravery," said Mayor Miller. "It is particularly poignant that we hold our remembrance at a DPS facility in recognition and honor of all the first responders who gave their lives that day."
