Sunnyvale Hosts Programs on Teen Health

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The City of Sunnyvale, in partnership with Camino Medical Group and Columbia Middle School Parent Teacher Organization, will hold two free health programs in coming weeks.

Teens, Exercise and Diabetes will be presented Wednesday, March 24 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Columbia Middle School,

739 Morse Ave., Sunnyvale. The program will be presented in both English and Spanish, and is offered free to the public.

David Quincy, M.D., a Camino Medical Group family practice physician who specializes in sports medicine, will lead the discussion. The program will discuss how physical activity can help manage children’s weight, improve mood and energy levels, raise self-esteem and reduce the risk of lifelong diseases, including diabetes.

Representatives of Camino Medical Group, Columbia Neighborhood Center, and Columbia Middle School Parent Teacher Organization have partnered to offer an

on-going series of programs for parents about teen health. The series began in February 2003 and has covered topics such as teen nutrition, stress and depression in teens.

The next program in the series will be about the prevention of teen alcohol and drug use. This program will be held on Tuesday, April 6 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room at Columbia Middle School, 739 Morse Ave. It is also presented in both English and Spanish, and is offered free to the public.
