PUBLIC BUDGET WORKSHOP PLANNED

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – With a preliminary budget now before the Sunnyvale City Council, the Council will hold a public budget workshop on Tuesday, May 25. The workshop is the next step in the City’s Fiscal Year 2004/2005 budgeting process, culminating with the adoption of a new budget. Council must approve the new budget by June 15.

This year the budget development process has included new opportunities for public input, beginning as the Council ranked service priorities and created a community vision. Four public meetings were held in March and April to examine all City services in terms of cost, and the type and size of the customer group served. The Council sought public comment to assist in making budget decisions while identifying those services deemed important to life in Sunnyvale.

The May 25 meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. in City Council Chambers, 456 West Olive Avenue, and will be broadcast live on KSUN-18, the City’s government access cable television station. In addition, the meeting will be rebroadcast throughout the following week. Schedules will be posted on KSUN-18 and the City’s Web site at www.sunnyvale.ca.gov.
