SUNNYVALE APPOINTS NEW ACTING PUBLIC SAFETY CHIEF
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – The City of Sunnyvale has appointed Bob Bradshaw Acting Director of the Department of Public Safety (DPS). Bradshaw assumed the role June 1.
Bradshaw has a long history in law enforcement. A retired chief of the Reno (Nev) police department, he has also served as San Jose’s assistant chief of police, Concord chief of police and interim chief of the Nevada Highway Patrol. A graduate of San Jose State, Bradshaw earned a Masters of Public Administration from Golden Gate University and has developed a reputation for his expertise in community policing.
“We are very pleased to have Bob join the City of Sunnyvale,” said City Manager Amy Chan. “His extensive background, broad experience and knowledge of outcome management make him an excellent choice for the job of Acting Public Safety Director.”
Bradshaw is looking forward to the assignment as well. “Sunnyvale’s Department of Public Safety has an excellent reputation for protecting the City,” he said. “I plan to work with the officers under my command to maintain that reputation and to continue to develop the department.”
Sunnyvale DPS Director Ernie Bakin has been out due to a work-related injury since late 2003.
