SUNNYVALE APPOINTS INTERIM HR DIRECTOR

SUNNYVALE, Calif. –  The City of Sunnyvale has appointed Jane Fleenor Interim Human Resources (HR) Director. Fleenor will begin her work with the City on Monday, November 15.

City Manager Amy Chan announced Fleenor’s appointment and said “Jane has a broad range of public service experience. She’s a skilled risk manager and a savvy labor negotiator in addition to being known for her human relations expertise in disciplinary issues, sexual harassment, disability accommodations, recruitment, benefits, and a host of other critical areas. We look forward to Jane’s contributions to the City as we conduct our search for a permanent director of human resources.”

Fleenor will serve as Sunnyvale’s interim human resources director until the a permanent director is found. The recruitment for that position has already begun and is expected to take up to six months.

Fleenor recently retired from the City of Upland, Calif., after 23 years during which she worked her way up from assistant to the city engineer to assistant to the community development director, to human resources officer and, finally, to HR director. Fleenor holds a bachelor’s degree in political science.
