FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE IN SUNNYVALE

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – It’s not too late to get a flu shot, say Sunnyvale officials.

“El Camino Hospital and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department are providing 500 doses of the vaccine,” said Sunnyvale Mayor Dean J. Chu. “At a time when vaccinations have been particularly difficult to find, we are very pleased to have this clinic available.”

Sunnyvale’s Columbia Neighborhood Center, El Camino Hospital and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department are partnering to provide flu shots. As with previous flu clinics, there are eligibility restrictions. Flu shots will only be given to at-risk individuals, which include: seniors age 65 and older; children between 6 – 23 months old; individuals aged 2 – 64 with chronic illness, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, HIV, cancer, respiratory problems or a lowered immune system. Vaccinations are also available to health care workers, nursing home residents and anyone who lives with or cares for an infant less than six months old.

Flu shots will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to those eligible. There is no charge for the vaccinations, but donations will be accepted.

The clinic will be held:

          Friday, December 10

          9 a.m. to noon

          Columbia Neighborhood Center

          785 Morse Avenue, Sunnyvale

VTA line 26 serves Fair Oaks Avenue, about three blocks east of Morse Avenue.
