SUNNYVALE NAMES NEW HR DIRECTOR

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Sunnyvale City Manager Amy Chan announced today (June 21) the appointment of Erwin Young as the City’s Director of Human Resources.

Young, who currently is the human resources director for the City of Santa Cruz, sees Sunnyvale as a great opportunity. “I look forward to joining Sunnyvale’s executive leadership team,” Young said. “As HR director, my job will be to manage the department to provide strong customer service to City departments, employees and the public.”

“Erwin is an exceptionally talented human resources director and will be a tremendous asset to Sunnyvale,” said City Manager Amy Chan. “He has broad, lengthy service in government human relations, is a leader in the human relations field in California, is an experienced labor negotiator and is very knowledgeable in insurance programs, including liability and worker’s compensation.”

When Sunnyvale’s previous HR director, Mark Gregerson, left to be closer to his family in the Sierra foothills, Jane Fleenor joined the City as interim HR director. Chan added that Fleenor has helped the City tremendously during this time of transition.
