DPS OFFICERS TO VISIT NATIONAL NIGHT OUT EVENTS
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Once again Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers will help neighborhoods celebrate National Night Out Tuesday, August 2.
The annual event is designed to heighten both crime- and-drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in local anti-crime programs, and provide an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other better. Strengthening neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships provide a basis for effective crime prevention. National Night Out also sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
Neighborhood associations and other groups traditionally celebrate the event with block parties, cookouts and visits by local fire and law enforcement officers. Sunnyvale DPS officers are available to visit National Night Out events in Sunnyvale. Requests for visits can be made by calling Jill Jackson at Sunnyvale DPS, (408) 730-7154, TDD (408) 730-7501.
