COMMUTING WITHOUT A CAR
SUNNYVALE PARTICIPATES IN BIKE TO WORK DAY ON MAY 18
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Commuters in Sunnyvale are encouraged to join others throughout the Bay Area on Thursday, May 18, leaving their cars at home and biking or taking public transportation to work.
Many local events are being planned for Bike to Work Day, and three “energizer stations” in the City of Sunnyvale will offer snacks, drinks and encouragement to bicyclists on the morning of May 18. Riders may also register at these stations for a chance to win a free bike and other prizes. The stations will be located at the Sunnyvale Caltrain Station at Evelyn Avenue and Frances Street; at the corner of Wolfe Road and El Camino Real; and at the corner of Maude and Mary Avenues.
If you can’t bike all the way to work, you can bike to transit. All of Sunnyvale’s Caltrain and light rail stations offer bike facilities, such as lockers and bike racks, and commuters can bring their bikes on board all trains and buses.
Bike to Work Day is an annual celebration of bicycling as an alternative to driving. The City of Sunnyvale, along with local organizations and volunteers, has participated in this event for more than 12 years. Sunnyvale encourages bicycling as healthy and fun way to commute to work.
