SUNNYVALE SIGNS FRIENDSHIP PACT WITH CITY OF SUZHOU, china

 

 

SUNNYVALE, Calif. –Sunnyvale City Council has agreed to establish friendly relations with the City of Suzhou, China. Suzhou becomes the third city to be recognized as a friendship city, joining Pinghu, China, which achieved friendship status in 2003, and Anqing City, which was recognized the following year.

Suzhou is a city of 5.9 million, with 2.2 million living within the city itself. It is located in the center of the Yangtze Delta, with Shanghai to the west and the Yangtze River to the north. Suzhou has an export-oriented economy, with $32.6 billion in exports.  Most of the exported products flow to the European Union, the United States and Japan. Machinery and high-tech products are major exports. Some Sunnyvale companies have facilities in Suzhou.

Sunnyvale Friendly Exchange Relationships have minimal impact on City resources while providing for the exchange of information for mutual benefit.
