Release # 11-10
SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Medical and legal professionals have long counseled the need for everyone to have an advance directive for health care. El Camino Hospital and Sunnyvale Public Library will present a talk by Betsy Carpenter on advance directives for health care, Sunday, December 10. This free presentation will begin at 2 p.m. in the Library Program Room. Everyone is welcome to this free event.
Carpenter is a counselor for advance directives at El Camino Hospital’s Health Resource Center. She will explain the living wills, durable powers of attorney for health care, advance health care directives and also discuss the differences between them. Carpenter will show how a well-crafted advance directive can help families with decision making, make things smoother for care-givers and clarifying one’s personal wishes. Carpenter will also discuss pre-hospital “do not resuscitate” forms.
Sunnyvale Library is located at 665 W. Olive Ave., across from City Hall. Free parking is always available, and the VTA line 54 serves the Library. More information on Library programs is available on the Library’s Web site at www.sunnyvalelibrary.org, or by calling the Reference Desk at (408) 730-7300, TDD (408) 730-7501.
